The objective
To tell great rugby stories from across every level of the game. Giving them the space they deserve, coupled with bespoke photography adding even more depth to the narrative, and then bring it altogether in a collectible coffee-table journal.

What we did
We delivered a multi-award-winning print product completely unique in the rugby market. Every article is at least 3,000 words long, it’s a novel’s worth of original rugby stories that go beyond the sport in every edition. Perhaps more importantly, it’s now part of a multi-platform editorial ecosystem to complement the print product that consists of…

  • A website (therugbyjournal.com) that averages 10-mins reading time per page.

  • Social channels with over 1m views per month.

  • A podcast (with full-length YouTube versions) that is one of the fastest-growing in rugby.

  • A competition [Rugby Photographer of the Year] that engages millions across the rugby world and brings in thousands of entries every year, culminating in an event at the home English rugby.
